Marquette: A Tiny Town with Giant Fun

Start your engine to explore Marquette, Kansas. Get ready for a motorcycle museum and a giant mushroom. Marquette welcomes you with a beautiful mural, vintage gas pumps, and a towering grain elevator. This pint-sized town is nothing like you’ve seen before. Buckle up and get ready for a great weekend.

Ever heard of Mushroom Rock State Park?

Located five miles north of Marquette, visit Mushroom Rock State Park. This five-acre park is one of the smallest state parks in Kansas. It holds a 27-foot rock shaped like a mushroom, hence the name. You can find this Eight Wonder of Kansas Geography along the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway. Make your way to the Kansas Motorcycle Museum

“Stan The Man” brings the vroom to Marquette. Raised outside of Marquette, Stan Engdahl was a legend at dirt track racing. Wining 16 Kansas State Championships, explore his collection of 600 trophies, learn motorcycle history and check out Stan Engdahl’s race bike. Motorcycle enthusiasts are in for a treat at the Kansas Motorcycle Museum.

Amazing art to witness

Check out the Civic Mural of Marquette. This masterpiece shows the amazing characteristics of the city such as civic pride, agri-business, religion and fellowship. The Marquette Historical Complex was built in 1910. Next door is the 1906 Range School Museum schoolhouse. Another unique place is the vintage Gas Pump. This eye-catching creation is by Marquette resident Corky Saum. Outside, Saum displays his antique gasoline pumps and inside the gas station, you can purchase memorabilia and collectibles. The mural and gas pump are two perfect places to take some cool photos.

Marquette is amazing inside and out, especially in the downtown area. Walk in this area and check out the Marquette Pioneer Trail. This 2.8-mile trail is great for enjoying the outdoors by walking and biking. Then head over to play disc golf at the 18-hole courseThe Art Room and the Marquette Fine Arts Center allow you to unleash your inner artist.
