Meet the Wichita Troll

Can you imagine walking over a 200-pound troll? It is a real possibility you may have while you are visiting Wichita’s Keeper of the Plains, which will be turning 50 years old in 2024. This seven-foot troll sculpture is held in an underground grate. Connie Ernatt is the artist behind the large masterpiece. Make sure to check it out during the night, when a green light illuminates it, adding to its creepiness. 


Prepare for unusualness at Glenn Stark Park

Want to see more unusual statues throughout South Central? What if a park had Jesus, Bigfoot and dinosaurs coexisting? That’s right, make your way to Glenn Stark Park in Kingman. Created by the imaginative Glenn Stark, 20 sculptures live in this park in his memory. Prepare to walk through this wonderland and check out the pictures

Feel on top of the world at the Coronado Heights Castle

In a city with Swedish roots, you can find a castle in Lindsborg. Spanish Explorer Francisco Vasquez de Coronado explored this area in the 1500s. This great selfie spot is a part of the Eight Wonders of Kansas Geography. Brag to your friends that you visited Coronado Heights and learn more about what Lindsborg has to offer. 

All hail the Mushroom Rock State Park

Have you ever visited a giant mushroom? Travel to Marquette to visit Kansas’ smallest state park, Mushroom Rock. This five-acre park is home to a collection of strangely shaped rocks. It is found along the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway and is another Eight Wonders of Kansas Geography. Uncover more state parks in South Central here

Check out Chase State Fishing Lake to discover one of the few Kansas waterfalls in Cottonwood Falls. Two of the World’s Largest is found in Greensburg at The Big Well Museum & Visitor Information Center. And make your final stop in Newton at the Blue Sky Sculpture, one of the Eight Wonders of Kansas Art
